After 12 wipes over the course of 3 days, and roughly 4 different theories tested... we finally downed Saurfang.
2 Tanks, 2 Heals, 6 dps--we had ranged burn down the blood creatures at spawn, using chains of ice, and frost traps to slow them down. We got him to about 35% before his buff spilled over and put his mark on one of our hunters. The hunter went down, but Saurfang was never able to land enough hits to place another mark on anyone else.
The key to this fight is having some amazing ranged dps. They have to be quick enough to kill the beasts and get back on the boss before the next batch spawns; think Deathwhisper on steroids.Congrats to: Richet, Stinky, Buick, Nebit, Coop, Aldo, Raydric, Vic, & Grok. Good job guys! =)

ReplyDeleteseriously though, after that, i'm looking forward to some 25 action, and bringing down suarfang again on our next run, and diving into the next wing on the 28th (think it was the 28th...) it's hard to imagine a group taking him down after 3 marks of the fallen have gone off though. at this point, we might be able to bring him down before he gets a single mark of the fallen off. in any event, i want to spend like, 7 hours in the next wing when it comes out, and maybe be the first to beat the last boss in that wing (isn't it proffesor putrid?) anyway, hoping for the best for this week, see you on later chris.

ReplyDeleteAri, if you go in w/ 2 heals, Bloodlust at 30%, and if a dps gets the mark, let em dps through BL, then let em die.
ReplyDeleteHe gains stacks quicker for every mark thats alive. Easier to burn through the added 5% HP than let him accumulate another mark.

ReplyDeleteTook 3 shots. The first 2 the damn beasts would just waltz right around the frost trap. We almost had it the second time, but apparently he gets really mad at 30%.
The third time was picture perfect, and his frenzy was nothing compared to attempt 2. Maybe there is an enrage timer? Anyway, we got the achievement for not letting him get 3 marks off.

and, Oh-- yeah, there is a hard-enrage at 8 minutes.
We weren't raiding that late. I had to call in to work for a testing session with some of our people i the Philippines... makes for awkward meeting times, thank god I work from home. (Find the guy with my name and punt him.)
ReplyDeleteWe must have hit the enrage at 8 minutes on the second attempt. We were just confused because we didn't see anything about it in the strats and DBM didn't have it loaded. Oh well, we really hammered out the strat that attempt and nailed it faster on the last.
